Other Uses is an introduction to some of the more common non-marine uses of WEST SYSTEM brand epoxy. Most of these suggestions deal with repair and restoration problems in an architectural or home environment, including bonding ceramic tiles, laminating timber beams and repairing windows & doors.

Additives are blended with mixed epoxy to alter the physical properties of epoxy when used as a coating. WEST SYSTEM brand additives can be used to alter the color, and to increase the abrasion or moisture resistance of cured epoxy.

421 Fire Retardant forms a fire retardant mixture for coating in engine room or galley areas.

422 Barrier Coat Additive is a proprietary blend designed to improve the cured epoxy’s moisture exclusion effectiveness. 422 it used as a barrier coating to help prevent gelcoat blistering in polyester fiberglass boat hulls. 422 also increases the epoxy’s abrasion resistance.

423 Graphite Powder can be mixed with WEST SYSTEM epoxy to produce a low friction coating with increased scuff resistance and durability. 423 is often used as a bearing surface, and as a coating on the bottoms of racing craft that are dry sailed.

501 and 502 Pigments are epoxy-based pastes used to tint the epoxy mixture and provide an even colour base, or to highlight surface flaws and imperfections, prior to the final finish system.

Fillers help expand epoxy’s versatility by altering its consistency, usually for bonding or fairing projects. By adjusting the amount and type of filler, the user can tailor the consistency of a batch to suit a particular job.

403 Microfibre Blend is a high density filler used to create a multi-purpose, high strength adhesive used for structural applications like bonding, filleting and hardware bonding, while retaining excellent wetting and penetrating capabilities. As a blended filler, 403 Microfibre Blend, offers an added degree of thixotrophy and substantially improved spreading and working properties.

411 Microsphere Blend is a low density filler which cures to a lightweight filling putty with excellent filleting characteristics. 411 Microsphere Blend is also used as a low density adhesive for edge gluing in strip plank construction.

410 Microlight is the ideal low-density filler for creating a light, easily-worked fairing compound especially suited for cosmetic or surface applications like shaping, filling or fairing.

410 Microlight mixes to a very smooth creamy texture that can be trowelled to a feather edge, and is less porous than other filling compounds.

301 Mini Pumps and 303 Special Ratio Mini Pumps are designed for convenient and accurate metering of WEST SYSTEM brand resin and hardeners. For convenience, the pumps mount directly onto the Resin and Hardener containers, and eliminate the mess involved with measuring by weight or volume.

The 301 Mini Pumps are calibrated to deliver the correct working ratio of 5 parts of R105 resin to 1 part of either H205 Fast or H206 Slow hardeners. : 303 Special Ratio Mini Pumps are calibrated to deliver the working ratio of 3 parts of R105 resin to 1 part of either H207 Special Coating or H209 Super Slow hardeners, with one full pump stroke of resin for each one full pump stroke of hardener.

Made of durable polypropylene, the pumps give years of dependable service.

For dispensing large metered quantities the 301 FRP Pump is a single action, double cylinder, high capacity pump, designed to dispense WEST SYSTEM brand resin and hardener from drum quantities at the designated 5:1 ratio, and reduce mixing time and waste.

R105 Resin is the base material of the WEST SYSTEM range of products. Formulated for use with WEST SYSTEM hardeners, it can be cured in a wide temperature range to form a high-strength solid with excellent moisture resistance. It is designed specifically to wet and bond with wood, fiberglass, reinforcing fabrics, metals and a variety of other materials.

H205 Fast Hardener is used, in the majority of situations, at lower temperatures to produce a rapid cure that develops its physical properties quickly at room temperature

H206 Slow Hardener is used when extended working and cure time is needed, or to provide adequate working time at higher temperatures.

H207 Special Coating Hardener has been specifically developed for coating applications where an exceptionally clear, moisture resistant, natural wood finish is desired. An ultraviolet inhibiting additive improves resistance of a R105/H207 mixture to sunlight. H207 also works well in humid conditions.

H209 Super Slow Hardener is formulated for general coating and bonding applications in extremely warm and/or humid conditions, or when extended working time is desired at room temperature. H209 Super Slow provides approximately twice the working time of H206 Slow.
